Your product photos are such an important part of your online shop, but one of the things that is often missed is adding the alt-text.
It’s important that photos on your website have alt text for two reasons.
One of the most important reasons is for accessibility to those who use screen readers for the visually impaired.
Secondly, because when search engines crawl your website they can’t actually see the photos, they only read the text. Not only is it important to have alt text on your photos but it’s also important that your alt text is an accurate description of your products.

You want to describe the photo so that someone could imagine your product without even seeing it, but you don’t need to give them every single detail.
When you are writing alt text, be sure to use keywords that shoppers are using when they are looking for your products and actually describe your products. Never “keyword stuff” your alt text. It doesn’t do you any justice and really makes it harder for shoppers to actually find what they are looking for.
