Let me introduce you to my latest addiction.
Classes on every subject under the sun, in binge-able-Netflix-esq format. What’s not to love?
Skillshare is an online learning platform with hundreds of topics, like photography, design, art, video, freelancing, productivity. It’s really great if you want to learn something new or freshen up your skills in a certain area.
I especially love watching classes for watercolor painting and Procreate on the iPad. My friend Nikita has a class called, Mindful Mark Making: Start a Meditative Sketchbook Practice. Which I’ve watched several times to help me relax and restart my creativity when I’m feeling stressed out.
In my experience, the classes in Skillshare tend to be really niched and specific to learning one task at a time. I love that each card for the class shows how long the class is so that you can decide what to watch based on how much time you have at the moment, or if you’ll need to break it into smaller sessions.
At only $15 per month or $99 per year, it’s really one of the most affordable ways to learn new things. Now through March 31st, 2021 there’s a 40% off deal.
And, you start with a 14-day free trial! So you can start with a quick 2-week binge session. Sign up for your free trial of Skillshare here.
Full-disclaimer – I’m a Skillshare partner, I make a small commission when you sign up for a free trial and I’m also a longtime premium subscriber of Skillshare.
Now I’ve gone on my own binger and rounded up some of my top recommendations for classes to help improve your product-based business.
Quick note – The course creators don’t necessarily keep up with updates on their courses. Please keep that in mind when checking out new Skillshare classes, especially if they are particular to a platform.
6 Skillshare classes for Shop Owners
This class teaches the basics of DIY product photography including flat lays and seamless style product-image. You will never regret the time you spend learning to take better photos of your product. Upleveling your product photography can improve your shop website tenfold.
Wish you got more sales from Pinterest? This is the perfect class for you. It teaches you how to set up a Pinterest account for your business, how to create good pin graphics, and how to pin from your shop, and introduces you to Tailwind (an awesome Pinterest scheduling tool that runs my entire Pinterest account with the help of my amazing assistant. We are huge fans of Tailwind over here.). Seriously, this class covers the whole-shebang when it comes to learning how to use Pinterest for your business.
She also has an interesting class with photo prompts for makers, if you struggle with creating content for Instagram this could be a great way to knock out some content.
Although, not technically about business, this is a great class to teach you the ropes of using Asana. Asana is another tool I swear by in my own business. If you don’t already have some kind of digital to-do list, project management app, you should give Asana a try! You can use it to plan out your promos, product launches, social media posts, and well, pretty much anything.
Facebook Advertising MasterClass for Shopify-The Ultimate Guide to master Facebook ads for eCommerce
Pretty much everyone I work with wants to know more about Facebook ads. This course is really in-depth and really focused on creating ads for e-commerce businesses, which is totally different from running ads for other business models.
This class is less tactical how-to and more about mindset, which is vital to the success of your business. The instructor walks you through 5 exercises to work through self-sabotage, your inner critic, and how to approach new projects with confidence.
This instructor has another class called Discovering Success: 7 Exercises to Uncover Your Purpose, Passion & Path which is another great resource if you are feeling stuck and doubting yourself.
This class is taught by news anchor Soledad O’Brien. She teaches how to build your skills as a storyteller and relates it to how it can help you talk to your audience and humanize your business. I personally found this class really enlightening and helpful for talking to people in real life, not just about business.
